Automated External Defibrillator at The Hall, Pinfold Lane, Stourton, CV36 5HG. 

The defibrillator is located in a cabinet outside the main entrance to the building and accessible to all in an emergency where someone has gone into cardiac arrest.

An Emergency Bleed Kit is also located in the cabinet for a serious wound injury.

In any emergency first call 999 or 112.

AEDs are portable lightweight devices designed to be used by people with minimal or no training on someone who has suffered a cardiac arrest. The job of the AED is to analyse the heart rhythm to determine if a shock is required. If a shock is required, the AED will give clear voice instructions to guide the user through the rescue process.

Modern AEDs today are very simple to use and give the user clear voice prompts instructing what to do. In the case of cardiac arrest the AED should be removed from the cabinet and taken to the patient.  Turn it on and follow the prompts.  If you are unsure of anything the emergency services call handler will guide you as required.

The  AED at The Hall has separate electrode pads which can be used on a child from 1-8 years old.  Follow advice from your 999/112 call handler if you are unsure.

AEDs are a support and not a substitute for CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).  Free informal opportunities to learn about CPR are held from time to time at the monthly Coffee Shop and adults and children are welcome to attend.
