A Cappella from The Cantamus Choir Sunday November 2nd

Enjoy a concert of moving and uplifting music from the Cantamus Choir at 3pm on Sunday November 2nd at The Hall

Cantamus, an A Cappella choir from Shipston Upon Stour, will present “Shades of Autumn”, a programme of seasonal songs and readings.

By turns reflective and amusing, the concert conveys all the wistfulness and joy of the changing moods of summer and autumn.

The big draw of course will be home made cakes in the interval. Many of the choir members are excellent cooks when they aren’t singing!

Tickets are £15.00 – including tea and cake.

See below for more information.

The programme will be a well-considered mix of pieces to suit the occasion, with some beautiful sacred music by Lauridsen, Bairstow, and Daley interspersed with pieces by Elgar, Brahms and Rheinberger.

Elgar’s As Torrents in Summer was one of the first pieces performed by Cantamus 27 years ago, a firm favourite with audiences.

Richard Emms’s arrangements of songs by the likes of Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Sting and Lennon & McCartney will also feature. There will even be some barbershop quartet singing and readings by Anne Hume in her inimitable style, some very poignant, some humorous.
