Pop-Up Pub Last Friday 6.30pm

It appears that the Cherington Arms will be closed for several months so The Hall is to open its doors on the last Friday of each month providing a venue as a Pop-Up Pub. First event Friday 28th January, all welcome for a drink and a chat. See you there!

New Constitution – Cherington, Stourton and Sutton-under-Brailes Village Hall

A new draft constitution has been based on the Model Constitution for Charitable Associations prepared by the Charities Commission, but with amendments to suit the circumstances of the Hall and the population that it supports.

  • The main change that the new constitution will have in practice will be for the make-up of the trust committee.  The intention is for the election of trustees to be more democratic so that those residents over the age of 18, living in any of the 3 villages, will be eligible to be a ‘Member’ and may attend an AGM and vote on the election of trustees.
  • It will no longer be necessary for specified village organisations to put forward someone to fulfil the role of trustee, however it is envisaged that they would continue to be encouraged to do so.  This allows for new organisations to start up who might be as entitled to a place on the committee as any of those established.
  • Trustees would serve for an initially term of 3 years.  Each year approximately a third of the committee would be up for re-election, so providing for continuity of management, should their places be taken by others.
  • It will be possible for the elected trustees to co-opt a limited number of others who may be regarded as having special skills.

A resolution to adopt the new constitution will be made at the AGM on 27th January 2022. Residents of the 3 villages are welcome to attend to express their views at this meeting.

Welcome Back, Summer 2021

We’re looking forward to the restart of all activities from 17 May! Many of our resilient team have been providing activities through Zoom and videos but we know how eagerly real ‘in person’ classes are anticipated.   Teachers and instructors are taking bookings and helping you with information about their classes and timetables. They are happy to add new folk to their contact list; drop them a line or give them a call when you’re deciding on all the things you would like to do as we leave the grip of this dreadful pandemic behind us.

Update December 2020

Sadly  Tier 3 allocation to the South Warwickshire area means that once again our doors are closed to many of our rural community activities.

However, indoor markets are exempt so the Farmers Market will be able to proceed on Thursday 3rd December 5-7pm.  Please do come along to stock up with lots of lovely goodies for December and Christmas and support hard working and deserving local growers and producers.

Fitness and exercise classes for adults are not allowed but pre and after school care and teaching can continue as can adult education and training so Ellie’s classes and Tumble Tots will be running.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported the Hall whenever they can throughout this year.  We will hope for  happier times in 2021 and look forward to welcoming people back to all the numerous worthwhile and enjoyable activities and events being planned.

Best wishes from the Trustees

Turbulent Times

The Hall is very quiet and still and resting while everyone follows the government guidelines to avoid group activities.

Our activity providers are self employed people who are being hit hard at this time but who consider the welfare of their clients to be of paramount importance.  They are also a resourceful bunch who are already looking at ways to help and to bring well being initiatives to folk in their homes.  Thank to all of them for coming up with the lovely innovative solutions below:
